Welcome to Febrile!

This learning platform was created to help everyone learn and teach about infectious diseases!

The audio podcast uses consult questions to dive into ID clinical reasoning, diagnostics, and antimicrobial management.  Case-based episodes are released every 1-2 weeks, and there are occasionally bonus episodes as well.

The “Consult Notes” are comprehensive written supplements for each episode that summarize key points, references, and any additional useful resources.

Febrile also has an ID infographic library!

Sara Winn Dong, MD

Sara Winn Dong

Hi!  I’m Sara, a combined adult and pediatric (Med-Peds) infectious diseases physician.  I created Febrile as a resource for adult and pediatric trainees to learn about the best subspecialty around, ID!

I was born and raised in South Carolina.  After medical school at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), I completed my Internal Medicine-Pediatrics residency at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and Nationwide Children’s Hospital (Columbus, OH).  I served as a Med-Peds chief resident while in training, followed by an additional chief resident year for the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Pediatric residency program.  I did my Med-Peds ID fellowship training at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Boston Children’s Hospital.  While in Boston, I also completed the Rabkin Fellowship in Medical Education at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center / Harvard Medical School.  I’m currently based in Atlanta, where I am a Med-Peds Transplant ID attending at Emory University and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

In addition to Febrile, you can find me collaborating with my colleagues at the ID Digital Institute and the ID Fellows Network as well as with Daniel Griffin co-hosting the rebooted Puscast !

My interests include digital medical education, immunocompromised host and transplant ID, and anything to do with Med-Peds/Med-Peds ID!  Outside of work, I’m known for my love of pandas, cooking, traveling, and pop culture!
